Junior Society Holiday Jamboree 2007

Welcome to the first annual Junior Society Jamboree! This is a visual gift guide composed of thumbnail images, each a link to the online shop where the featured product can be purchased. Embedded is an enhancement program called Snap Shots which generates a preview of each linked website when you run your cursor over an image.
The goal was to select a group of moderately priced children’s products for ages 0-8 that reference traditional toy making in their materials and workmanship but with a distinct nod to modernity. There has been considerable discussion this year concerning toy safety and as such particular care has been taken to include a healthy dose of handmade, fair trade and environmentally friendly toys. Similar attention has been given to the selection of online retailers, so please follow the links and go exploring!

Go throw your TV set away,
And in its place you can install, A lovely bookshelf on the wall.”
- Roald Dahl, Charlie and the Chocolate FactoryA book is always a great gift. Below please find a hand-picked selection of literary favorites from Powell’s City of Books in Portland, OR - a favorite, BIG, independent book seller.
