Do You Doodle?

So what do you get when you set an art student loose in the kitchen? Doodle Bread. While studying at the Art Collage in London, Rose Kane fortuitously skipped class one day to play with bread dough in the kitchen and happened upon a fun idea. Her bread has shapes running through every slice with colors created from powdered vegetables, seeds and grains.
You can pick up a loaf of Doodle Bread at the farmer’s market in Rose’s hometown of Dublin, Ireland or purchase one of her kits online and bake it at home. Each Doodle Bread Kit comes with a silicon baking tin and a durable ’squisher’, a doodle (the implement that creates the center shape) and bread mix. Presently the kits are available with either a green spinach star or a purple beetroot star. Once you’ve used the enclosed mix, experiment with one of the recipes on Rose’s Baker’s Blog including an amazing looking chocolate loaf with vanilla star. Never baked bread before? The Doodle Bread site has super cute downloadable and video tutorials.

“Doodle Bread is about Saturday afternoons together, rainy days in the kitchen, getting messy and having fun, then eating the result!”
In her blog and Flickr sets Rose also gives us a peek into her creative process as she experiments with new doodle shapes.
