Rhyme Time
![]()
Love these beautiful new nursery rhyme prints from the talented folks at Sub-studio. Anna Corpron and Sean Auyeung designed these limited edition 2-color prints, each measuring 12″ wide by 16″ high and silk-screened by hand on acid-free paper. The bold graphic designs seem inspired by vintage Saul Bass movie posters.

A wise old owl lived in an oak.
The more he saw the less he spoke.
The less he spoke the more he heard.
Why can’t we all be like that wise old bird?

Rain rain go away,
Come again another day.
Little Johnny wants to play;
Rain, rain, go to Spain,
Never show your face again!

There was a crooked man,
And he walked a crooked mile,
He found a crooked sixpence
Upon a crooked stile;
He bought a crooked cat,
Which caught a crooked mouse,
And they all lived together
In a crooked little house.

robert, thanks for the mention! the posters were indeed inspired by mod-ish film posters. we wanted to take the nursery rhymes and modernize them in an atypical style. the short rhymes made for great major-minor text and each had a line that could be a movie title. they were fun to research and draw and it’s great you enjoy them!
