While doing a little online reading about the history of the holiday stockings I was amused to come across an article on WikiHow.com entitled “How to Fill a Christmas Stocking.”  I guess I had never before considered how complicated the process could be, but enjoyed such helpful hints as “give money, especially interesting money” and “include a few items just for fun (such as) pretty stones or minerals.”  Curiosity begs the question, does coal fit into that last category?

Regardless, I love this holiday tradition  and thought it would be fun to do a mini survey of some of the great stocking designs currently available. Today I’m featuring a selection from the design team at Hable Construction who have a knack of creating thoughtfully clever design without being overly cutesy.  They offer a large selection of well-made wool felt appliqued stockings and a cool ‘design your mantel‘ flash application that allows you to see what your selection would look like hung above your fireplace.
