Playing in the Produce

picture name

It’s been too long (about six months!) since I shared some of the amazing submissions to the Play Food group I administer on Flickr. There are now close to 3,000 images in the photo pool, 740 members and the projects just keep coming! I am constantly inspired by the creativity these culinary crafters invest in their work.

Fruits and vegetables have been very popular subject matter and I’m seeing gorgeous produce cropping up more often. Because wool felt is such a delicious material, available in a wide color range it’s no wonder so many have made it their medium of choice, but it’s also fun find harvests in paper, fiber and polymer.  Not inclined to finish your peas and carrots?  Perhaps the following twenty projects will inspire a renewed interest at your kitchen table or a new project on your craft table!

Knitted food has been close to my heart since gifting a knitted breakfast set at last year’s office gift exchange. Weird? Maybe. Successful? Absolutely. It was stolen more than once.

I love all of it, the detail on the apple leaves are awesome! My favorite pattern is the Felt Vegetables at Little Crickets . The details were so much fun!
