During the next few weeks I’m going to be introducing a number of guest bloggers, each with a specific area of expertise in the realms of kiddie culture and design. Today I’m excited to welcome Christine Visneau and Olivia Pintos-Lopez, editors of my favorite online magazine Small Magazine, champions of independent design for the short set and now Junior Society resident fashion gurus. (Hurray!)

Each month Christine and Olivia will focus on a different kid and dress him or her according to their personality traits. Links to the designers and shops where you can find their fashion finds are listed below the images.

Character Profile:

First day of school, it is still warm but autumn is falling and colors are moving from green to yellow. New school clothes for a seven year old girl who still secretly believes her dolls can talk to her, went through a stage not long ago when she wouldn’t wear pants, always could hang upside down and run fast and do back flips on the beach. She makes up elaborate games to play with her two best friends that last for days. She likes insects and animals, princesses and painting, fables and fairies. She hates her school uniform - if it was up to her this is what she would wear.

About out guest bloggers:

Junior Society members and Small Magazine editors Christine Visneau and Olivia Pintos-Lopez have been friends since they shared an apartment in Brooklyn over ten years ago. Between them they have worked in fashion design, furniture design, exhibition design, doll making, interior architecture, styling, sewing, graphic design and now with two each, child raising…but all on a small scale.

Small Magazine was launched to support creative people working on a small scale and for the smaller sized. It’s not just a magazine for parents and kids but a magazine for anyone who likes to make and finds joy and fun in things small. Small Magazine believes a return to grass roots creativity is good for the world and in a consuming society we can choose to support companies and makers and the independently creative.
